chapel

Our Chapel focus this month is prayer. We are memorizing the Lord’s Prayer as our memory verse and the children are learning the components of prayer. Our Chapel leader, Mrs. S, has started Prayer Journals where each class has a stuffy and a Prayer Journal to take home. The students may keep the stuffy and prayer journal for one week and will fill it out at home and bring it back each Monday. Our first student is Chelsea and the children are excited to see who will take the stuffy home next.

Memory Work

We are learning the Lord's prayer from Matthew 6:9-13.  "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread."  Please practise this section with your child, as we also practise daily.  Students should know this by October 15.   Thank you for your support in your child's learning.

Soup Picnic

On Thursday, October 10, the high school Food Class will be serving our classes a soup picnic created from veggies from our Highroad garden.  The students will be served one bowl of veggie soup and a bun.  If you think your child might not like the soup, then sending a lunch will be helpful.  We will be having our lunch early that day to accommodate  serving the whole school with hot soup.

Although the weather wasn't the best we still had a great time at the Taves Farm.  Thank you to all the parents who came along and helped to make this a good experience for all!

Class Presentations

Today I sent home a yellow paper which tells all about our family oral presentation.  Please help your child fill out the form for the presentation and take time to practise it with them. I will help students as needed, but it is important for them to practise ahead of time so they are familiar with what they want to say.  Make sure they choose a visual to accompany their presentation as well as the filled out yellow paper.  At the bottom of the page I have indicated the date your child will be doing their presentation.  If you have any questions, please come ask! The students know about this upcoming presentation and are excited to share!

Assembly

Today we had an assembly with all the primary classes.  Our topic was Healthy Relationships.  We learned about JOY.  Jesus first , then Others, then Yourself.  This is how we create joy. Bible text:      John 15: 12, 13   My command is this: love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this.    We were challenged to show this in life by being a bucket filler and not bucket dipper.  Please ask your child about what does mean to be a bucket filler vs. a bucket dipper.
