Tardiness

It is with regret that I feel the need to speak to parents regarding tardiness of children.  This is a growing concern, as more and more children are arriving late for school.  This late arrival is disruptive to the class at work and also affects your child's own learning.  NOTE:  The first bell rings at 8:55 a.m, which allows children to come into the classroom.  At 9:00 am the second bell rings and it is time for attendance and class to begin.  Thank you for respecting these rules.

Sight Words / Phonograms

Here are the phonograms your child should know. (pgs 1-3 of the Multi-letter phonogram booklet sent home earlier)  sh, th, oo, ee, er, oy,oi, ch, ow, ou, ay, ai, ea, or, ew, ui.  I will be testing the students next week.

We have completed pgs 1-7 of the Sight Word Booklet I sent home.  These are the words your child should be able to read.  a, big, down, go, in, little, my, red, the, up, you, and, blue, find, help, is, look, not, run, three, we, away, can, for, help, it, make, one, said, to, ride, so, they, want, what.  I will be testing the students next week.

Christmas costumes

There has been a slight change to our costume for the program.  The students are dressed as angels, but it is difficult for many to find all-white clothing.  So, we are asking if the students can wear jeans or uniform pants and a white shirt.  No need for any head dressing or extras. (this will be provided).  Any questions, please see me.  Thank you.

Christmas Memory Work

For our Christmas program on Dec 19, the Grade One students are reciting by memory Luke 2:8-14.  We are on the final stretch to learn the last 2 verses.  "Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."  Please take some time to practise this with your child.

Christmas Memory Work

Luke 2: 8-14

And there were shepherds living out in fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “DO not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly hosts appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest , and on earth peace to men on whom his favour rests.”

Parents:  This is the Bible text the students will be reciting on the Christmas program.  We have begun to memorize and we are needing your help to practise at home.  I would love for the students to know by this Friday "And there were shepherds..........and they were terrified." (small section)

Costumes:  We will be angels, so I am requesting that the students wear all white. (can be white shirt and skirt/pants).

Our first student is Chelsea and the children are excited to see who will take the stuffy home next.

I will help students as needed, but it is important for them to practise ahead of time so they are familiar with what they want to say.  Make sure they choose a visual to accompany their presentation as well as the filled out yellow paper.  At the bottom of the page I have indicated the date your child will be doing their presentation.  If you have any questions, please come ask! The students know about this upcoming presentation and are excited to share!

Assembly

Today we had an assembly with all the primary classes.  Our topic was Healthy Relationships.  We learned about JOY.  Jesus first , then Others, then Yourself.  This is how we create joy. Bible text:      John 15: 12, 13   My command is this: love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this.    We were challenged to show this in life by being a bucket filler and not bucket dipper.  Please ask your child about what does mean to be a bucket filler vs. a bucket dipper.
